Changes
The grandparents
Made to make music
Actually, she does delight in smashing the keys with her fat little fists. I guess she is closer to Cecil Taylor that Bill Evans right now, but give her time..

Pool time
It’s been a few weeks since posting. Not laziness, just lack of photo time. In the meantime, Rosie has not sat still (either emotionally or physically) for a moment. Backwards crawling is developing nicely, and she can now rotate herself, sleeping bag and all 180 degrees in bed (not so nice at 3am)
Rosie and Mummy enjoying some pool time this week. Baby crackers are now the coolest snack on the block.
Rosie and co.
More time spent at the pool this week, with Rosie’s Russian friends (Dennis on the left). A little on the chubby side she may be, but beautiful she is without question.

Rosie in a box
For no good reason other than never having sat in a box before. I also thought it might make an extremely cheap ‘playhouse’ (children should be encouraged to use their imagination…)
Anyway, she wasn’t that fussed, the microwave that box came in the box was RM700, so it wasn’t that cheap after all.
Baby Buddha
A late entry for baby Buddha of the year, all the way from Setiawangsa.

Reality check
In the last blog post, I proudly told of Rosie standing (and envisaged her walking by this week..)
This is the reality. OK, she can stand. But her efforts to crawl are still ridiculous. She constantly flips onto her belly, holds her head up for a second, and then decides it might be better to rest (and pretend that this was her intention all along.)
Peeping round to get a glimpse of what she is actually doing with her head on the ground, she is clearly quite happy to chill out and view the world from a different angle for a while.
The First strawberry
Clearly developing a taste for the finer things in life. The first strawberry was enthusiastically received, along with her daily dose of banana yogurt. She will need to be aware that they are also my favourite fruit.
Looking cool
Chilling out this afternoon, playing with her favourite horse (and wearing her mothers hat.) She will be needing a set of spurs next.

My first passport photo?
Perhaps not. More like an advert for what happens if you watch Piglet Wilburn on DVD every day for 9 months.
Standing tall and proud
Having been thoroughly scornful of her ability to crawl, I can now announce that as of yesterday, she can officially stand (with a helping hand for balance.) I think she likes the view from up there. Time to move every item we own out of reach and install the stair gate. Groan.
Ready to get busy
A month ago, the picture on the right would have been the preferred position for an afternoon on the mat. Now its the one on the left. Never has a child been so determined to move. She will now not sit still for a second. Actual crawling could only be described as sad. She has worked out how to crawl backwards, but ends up very confused as to why things are moving further away from her rather than getting closer.

Catching some rays
Perhaps a carrot and nappies are not the coolest sunbathing accessories, but as far as Rosie is concerned, a spangled headband offsets these perfectly. I get the feeling that in a few years she will want to kill me for posting this picture. I state for the record now-you haven’t started walking yet Rosie, which is partly why you look like a mini sumo wrestler (but a beautiful one at that..)

Google fame
I tried Googling ‘Rosie Woodhead’ today. She is the sixth entry on page one. Not bad for 8.5 months of age. I, on the other hand am nowhere to be found, after 46 long years in which to rise in Google stature. I did find an exciting (if not very famous) .22 calibre air pistol champion called James Woodhead, but not a glimpse of me.
In celebration, here is Rosie in her Hollywood starlet outfit, awaiting fame and fortune.
It’s official
Unfortunately I have to now admit defeat and officially announce that Rosie has more hair than me. I have been fighting a losing battle for several months. For a while I was winning in the density department, but she has overtaken me and left me behind. Welcome to the world of hairstyles Rosie Woodhead.
One seriously chilled baby
At the pool last week. This pose is not the result of having fallen sideways. She positioned herself like this in order to be comfortable, and didn’t move for 20 minutes. She knows how to relax! The coffee cup was an experiment to see if she would budge, but no. It stayed firmly in place.
Rice crackers rule.
This face means ‘I am extremely hungry, if not starving, and I would dearly love a rice cracker’
And this one means things are ok with the world again for the next 3 minutes.
Tummy time
A recent visit to the pool provided a rare glimpse of Rosie spending time on her tummy. Usually she holds this position for about 8 seconds and then plonks her head down and refuses to lift it up again, protesting of exhaustion. There is a long way to go before she is mobile..

Rosie receives guests
Another in a line of enlightened visitors made a special trip to see Rosie today. This is her third Myanmar monk, on his way back to Myanmar, via KL, having studied in Sri Lanka for a number of years. Before you ask, it’s far too complicated to explain! Katrin made friends with one of them some time ago and we are now getting a steady stream making a special side trip to visit Rosie (and bring us enough Sri Lankan tea to last a lifetime.)
What with her Sikh christening at 2 months, and now her Buddhist blessings, she can surely expect a long and prosperous life.

Uncle Lars in town
Wam and the cough
Rosie has decided as a result, that coughing is quite cool and that it is very trendy to cough after every mouthful of her lunch or dinner. Today we sat through a whole bowl of pasta..spoon, cough, spoon, cough..... I tried to tell he that it is very childish, but she just doesn't want to listen.
Alison brought yet more beautiful new clothes for a baby who already has more outfits than a top fashion model. Thanks Wam!
